Folks, I just unpacked my Vectrex console from its cardboard box and plugged in some homebrew games I acquired from CCC during the Karlsruhe EuroCon and the Multi Cart from Sean Kelly and it's simply... magic. Remember seeing this console for sale at a local innercity warehouse here in Linz in the early eighties but I was an Atari man back then and maybe I didn't have the funds to buy one as I was a school boy without steady income (it was this warehouse where I first saw and played Atari's Xevious and which was the only place in Linz where to buy Spectravision and XonoX games for the Atari VCS 2600 (I bought Cross Force back then)).
One thing flipped to my mind when testing some of the homebrews: These games surely don't have to hide behind the commercial released games. Programmers have gone a long way since then and man, have the learned how to program this vector based machine!
There are a few titles missing in my collection like Pole Position but I wanna add them soon. Looking forward to try more games when time permits.

Gaaaaah, you just wanna make me wanting my Veccy homebrews back
But you're right. I never owned a Veccy back in those days, I think I even never saw one in the shops. Got my first one in the mid-90s. But I must agree that this console brings for sure the best arcade feeling of all classic home systems. I should complete my collection too.
Das taugt mir!
Aber mit wenig Ei bitte …
Vectrex surely was one of the best in the 80's. Here in the Finland we used to rent it from a local video store. They had all the official games too
.
My favorites included Web Warb, Armor Attack, Berzerk, Fortess of Narzod, Scramble and of course Cosmic Chasm. Cosmic Chasm is an awesome game and the only one that has inspired an arcade game! Mind you not vice versa
.
I'm not sure where one could stick those homebrews, just give me my Star Fortress back <img decoding="async" class="wp-smiley" src="/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="

I guess that the feelling just isn't there if you see these games the first time now in this time and era. Back then it felt like magic.

Btw. I was lucky enough to receive the press review copies from a Dutch collector but I still miss some hard to get games too
. I would also like to thank Markus from Germany who really helped me with my collection.
well, i am rather a collector than a retrogamer but when it comes to play vectrex this console really still rocks! i should complete my collection too and i am still missing the 3d imager :-( i thought i would ran over one on a flee market for 5 euro but that didn´t happen in the last 8 years...
anyway i bought a polar rescue cart for 4 euro on ebay :-) okay it is loose...
immer in bewegung bleiben!
I have no idea if they were grey import or not
We bought the LightPen in Sweden (magazine ad). The 3D imager was sold at the same company I think.
Bought a Vectrex a few weeks ago with the 3D Imager, and some of the games had swedish instructions (not any 3D game) but I think that lot has been stored as it was from the 80s, so the 3D Imager was sold in Sweden, but without any swedish instructions.
