i would like to know about your favorite bands you enjoyed in the 80s.

mine was definately U2, the Dire Straits, Alan Parsons Project, Talk Talk, Orchestral Maneuvres in the Dark, Men at Work, Madness and a lot of bands that had chart hits like Simple Minds, Latin Quarter, the Stranglers, Tears for Fears, Cock Ronin, T'Pau, The Cure, The Buggles, Boomtown Rats, Depeche Mode, Ultravox, Eurythmics, Yazoo, the Human League, Men without Hats, Heaven 17, Level 42, Men at Work, Icehouse, ABC…

…too many to mention

but U2 were my absolute heroes those days Smile

I could write books about my favorite 80s music. I was never THAT big U2 fan, but I liked them pretty much.

In short, I liked almost all interprets that were in the charts, I am a mainstream guy Rolleyes

So most of the ones Adrian already mentioned, plus for example Nik Kershaw, Paul Young, Cyndi Lauper, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Genesis, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel and gazillion others.

If anyone likes that kind of music, here is my recommendation for the best 80s web radio on this planet: http://www.cafe80s.de Thumbup

Ah, Gazebo, right! I have very special memories with "Lunatic" Lust

Wow, listened to Forever Young by Alphaville the last day – TOPS! Is one of the most underestimated 80s New Wave groups for sure.

Absolutely agreed! Cool

There is no other decade that had such fantastic music as the 80s. And there probably will never be a decade in the future that beats the 1980s …

Always on that topic my tip: http://www.cafe80s.de Thumbup

That are for sure two great songs, but maybe I've listened to them to much, especially to Our Darkness (and of cause Sleeper in Metropolis).

In my eyes the nineties Anne Clark is very underestimated. Give here a try, the CDs are dirt cheap at amazon and ebay. (about one or two Euro)

I visited, like stated above, the Wiesen Urban Arts Festival months ago and saw Kraftwerk for the 6th time now. As usual a pleasure and delight.

Dieter, his lovely wife and I managed to meet at the Genesis live gig in 2008 in Linz – pics should be somewhere on this webiste – a mint concert this!
