In the last issue of Retro Gamer was an article about MSX computers and the most interesting part for me was the one about Konami cartridge combos: Most of the MSX computers have two cartridge slots and by combining some Konami cartridges with others you can unlock cheatmodes, special features and other stuff. Unfortunately I don't have the cartridges to try it. Has anyone ever tried that?
I did a quick websearch and found this. Must be cool to play Nemisis 2 with a penguin...
I've searched the web to find more information about the two cartridge-slots of the 800. If I got it right the two slots have a slightly different pin-out and the right slot of the 800 was only used for a few utilities.
I think the main difference between the two groups of machines is, that most of the MSX models had two slots, while on the other site only the 800 came with this feature. That makes it at least more likely to devolp something for the two slots on the MSX.
By the way, while searching, I saw that the IBM PC junior also had two cartridge slots. Are there any other machines with two slots?
Oh, I didn't notice that the two cart slots of the Atari 800 have a different layout - shame on me because I am an Atari home computer fan. But then, I still don't have an 800 so far ![]()
Anyway, that makes it clear that this feature was not used on the 800, because, as Jens said, only the Basic cart and a few utility carts use this particular slot ...
Das taugt mir!
Aber mit wenig Ei bitte …
