that console would be so great if it wasnt for those horrible joysticks

I am still looking for an alternative

yes I know you can use standard 2600 controller

but for some games you need a keypad and one plugged in the second controller port doesn work

There are some alternatives,lucifershalo!

Found this on the "atari2600.com" page:

https://www.atari2600.com/item–Champ-Joystick-Adapter–PROD7279.html

I know it is quite pricey, but a very rare item.

I fired up the ColecoVision yesterday and tried a few games (my Activison H.E.R.O. cartridge is the only one that won't function but I got it that way from a nice ebay seller) like Donkey Kong, Lady Bug, Frontline and Mr. Do! and in some games I really got mad at that damn controllers. I like them more than the Intellivision Wheelies but thank the gods that someone invented the… joystick Cool

I am with you guys. I think people who had an Intellivision or Colecovision back then got used to those controllers by playing with them a lot over the years. I didn't have one of those systems in those days, so I have my problems too today. Not sure if I will ever get used to them.

That Champ adapter looks sure cool! Is this a vintage item or was it developed these days?

I bought a Spectravideo joystick for the Colecovision some time ago and it clearly helps.

I found this page about Coleco Joysticks. Not too many infos, but at least some nice pics.

I have two Super Action Controllers in storage in the cellar – will dig them out this weekend and try some games with them.

I saw items like the one you posted in old advertisements in Electronic Games magazines but never used one of these either, so I don't know if they do the trick.

the push buttons for fire
