Never owned a ColecoVision and Zaxxon myself but remember it on display on the department store TVs.
Tried the game yesterday, but damn, was the isometric scrolling always that jerky or are we spoiled these days or does memory play us tricks in the old days?

Same problems here too.Always difficult to estimate height and direction of things coming at you.
Another isometric horror is "Safecracker" from Imagic for Intellivision.It is nearly impossible to drive straight along the streets with this "lovely" controller 
.Will never be a good player on that one...

haha yes, but kilometers better than the Zaxxon they released for the Atari 2600 - that was a complete joke. at least the Atari hardware had decent scrolling though.
