Have been collecting Thorn EMI games for Atari 8 bit now for a while and was wondering if the catalog numbers have any meaning.
In a Thorn EMI catalog I found the following catalog numbers:
| THA12001 | Submarine Commander |
| THA12002 | Jumbo Jet Pilot |
| THA12010 | Computer War |
| THB12003 | Soccer |
| THB12004 | Kickback |
| THB12005 | River Rescue |
| THD11001 | Home Financial Management |
| THD11002 | Darts |
| THD11003 | Snooker & Billiards |
| THD11004 | Pool |
| THE11005 | Cribbage & Dominoes |
| THE11006 | Humpty Dumpty & Jack & Jill |
| THE11007 | Hickory Dickory Dock / Bah Bah Black Sheep |
| THE11008 | British Heritage Jigsaw Puzzles Vol 1 |
| THE11009 | British Heritage Jigsaw Puzzles Vol 2 |
| THE11010 | European Scene Jigsaw Puzzles Vol 1 |
| THE11011 | European Scene Jigsaw Puzzles Vol 2 |
| THE11012 | Super Cubes And Slip |
| THE11013 | Figure Fun |
| THE11014 | Thorn EMI Compute 4 & Reversi |
| THE11015 | Owari And Bull & Cow |
THA could be simulations. But why are they numbered 1, 2, 10? I couldn't find any info on numbers 3 to 9 so far and I don't think that those exist.
THB could be sports games, but River Rescue doesn't fit in there. And why do those start with number 3? Could be that THA and THB share numbers. Still there is a gap, numbers 6 to 9 are missing.
THC seems not to exist.
THD could be pub games, but Home Financial Management doesn't fit in there.
THE could be parlour games. THD and THE seem to share numbers.
Why do numbers in THA and THB start with 12 while numbers in THD and THE start with 11?
I have a Thorn EMI catalog from Winter 1982 which was included in almost all Thorn EMI games I own. Do other Thorn EMI catalogs exist?
The games were manufactures in the UK, but all games that I own have a "N" behind the number and say "For NTSC sets only" on the cover. Do PAL versions exists too? Never saw one so far …
Maybe someone has some insight? ![]()
Das taugt mir!
Aber mit wenig Ei bitte …
Many thanks for the info! It seems that not all NTSC versions from Thorn EMI have the NTSC note on the box.
I wonder if all Thorn EMI games with the N behind the number will run on PAL systems or only the ones without the not. And vice versa of course.
Unfortunately I have no tape drive, so I can check only with the cartridges. Oh, and I don't have an NTSC computer, so anyone else must check this ![]()
